Event Details

Celebrate local authors, writing, and literature at the 2nd Annual Local Lit Fest, presented by Shelf Life and Cuyahoga Falls Library. The free, 2-day event will be Fri., Apr. 28 and Sat., Apr. 29 at Cuyahoga Falls Library, featuring over 15 local authors. Join us for:
  • Local author meet & greets
  • Book sales, signings, and readings
  • Children’s readings and crafts
  • Local book club sign-ups
  • Reading-focused non-profits
  • Giveaways and free cookies from Kind Cakes (while supplies last)! 
Friday, April 28: Writer's Workshops
On Friday, attend writing and publishing workshops on poetry publication, writing your book, and character development. Plus, meet other writers and network at the Writer's Social!

2:00 - 3:00 p.m. "Submitting Your Poetry for Publication" with Barbara Sabol & Marion Boyer - Register here

3:30 - 4:30 p.m. "So You Want To Write a Book" with Olive Persimmon - Register here

6:00 - 7:00 p.m. Writer's Social: An open meet & greet for all writers to network & share resources - no registration!

7:15 - 8:15 p.m. "Character Driven Writing" with Patricia Miller - Register here


No registration is required for the Writer's Social, an open meet and greet from 6 - 7 p.m. for writers to network and share resources.

Plan to bring the entire family for this free, annual event supporting local authors and literature! 
Join us for author readings, book club sign-ups, giveaways, and children’s activities. Works by local authors will be available to purchase. 

11:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. Children's Local Author Storytime | Location: Graefe Room
Readings by local children's book authors, plus fun children's songs from the library's Children's Department staff!
  • Readings by Greg Scheetz, Megan Higgins, Michael Haase, and Susan Bagby
12:30 - 1:30 p.m. Adult Readings by Local Authors:
  • Barbara Sabol, Barbara Marie Minney, Don Ake, Dylan Stover, and Marion Starling Boyer
2 - 3 p.m. "Resurrecting Edgar Allan Poe" with Mindy McGinnis | Location: Sutliff Room
  • A special presentation from Edgar Award-winning novelist Mindy McGinnis. She will discuss the inspiration for her duology "The Initial Insult" and "The Last Laugh" which draw heavily on the short stories of Edgar Allan Poe, while covering modern themes of class, bullying, and small town politics. No registration is required for this presentation.
  • Attendees can enter a special raffle to win an Edgar Allen Poe themed art piece by The Art Escape. 
Local Authors Featured: Local authors will be stationed around the library, near their respective genres, with books available for purchase.
